INTRODUCING: THE IWC PILOT’S WATCH

2016 marks the release of IWC Shaffhausen’s pilot watch collection. One of the biggest names in Swiss luxury watches, the brand’s vintage inspired collection has a wide range of aesthetics catering for aviation enthusiasts of both sexes.

The narrower dial and smaller face of the entry-level pieces are perfect for those who have a slimmer wrist but mainly those who have a penchant for true elegance and a watch that is both understated and of high quality. However in the same series, the sizeable Big Pilot’s heritage watch is large enough to include a Timezoner Chronograpgh, allowing a new time zone and date to be set by merely turning the bezel. Yet no IWC collection would be complete without the ‘Exupéry’ and ‘Le Petite Prince’ series with their original design ideas and aesthetics.

THE BIG PILOTS HERITAGE WATCH

Clearly inspired by the historic observers watch, the enormous cased 55mm watch and its smaller 48mm brother are true to the original in every way, apart from the obvious tech update and the incredible soft-iron inner case which protects the watch from harmful magnetic fields.

From the design of the dial and the colour of the luminescent numerals to the shape of the propeller-like hands and the riveted calfskin straps, it’s like jumping back in time to the pioneering age of aviation, except that we’ve got state-of-the-art IWC watch technology.” – Christian Knoop, Creative Director

THE PILOT’S WATCH TIME-ZONER CHRONOGRAPH

A watch undoubtedly for the engineer, it brings together three IWC technologies into one piece; the city ring from the Pilot’s Watch Worldtimer, a sprung rotating bezel and the external/internal rotating bezel mechanism that transfers the rotational movement to the inside of the watch. This watch is able to show a new time zone and the time of day together with a 24-hour display and the new date – all with a just a twist.

PILOT’S WATCH CHRONOGRAPH SPITFIRE

The embodiment of IWC’s new line into the entry market, the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Spitfire is a sporty and elegant timepiece for everyday use complete with the beautiful stainless steel bracelet. Keeping its soul and aesthetic this highly regarded member of the IWC family, its simple date display is virtually unchanged and features unusual complications such as the large digital date and month displays.

BIG PILOT’S WATCH ANNUAL CALENDAR EDITION “LE PETIT PRINCE”

IWC once again pay homage to the amazing author “Antoine de Saint Exupéry” and his most famous work, “Le Petit Prince” (The Little Prince), a man torn all his life between flying and writing, The Big Pilot’s Watch Annual Calendar Edition “Le Petit Prince” unites these two worlds. With the solid gold rotor at the pack showing the famous prince, while he turns on his axis and provides the power to the mechanism.

“With the sheer choice of models in the Pilot’s Watch collection, we’re also appealing to watch lovers who have until now dismissed the idea of an IWC watch. With the Pilot’s Watch Automatic 36 and the Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII, we have widened the range of models in the entry-level segment. At the other end of the scale, we’ve created sizeable, authentic observer’s watches that resemble the historic original but are more in line with modern ideas of comfort. Between these two extremes, we offer our customers innovative complications like the Timezoner, elegant classics like the Pilot’s Watch Spitfire and imaginative details like the rotor in the annual calendar. With the polished bezels, the Santoni alligator leather and calfskin straps and the partly polished stainless-steel bracelets, the new Pilot’s Watch collection has become even more attractive and elegant.” – Georges Kern – CEO
